Australia adopts relaxed visa laws for international students

The Australian immigration authorities have decided to ease visa laws for international students in a bid to strengthen further the country’s vast educational sector.

Under the relaxed regime, at least 10, 500 foreign students of 29 countries will be granted AL1 visa status. This will help the applicants to get their visas approved quickly and simply. Moreover, they will be liable to get a number of facilities during they stay at Australia.

The new visa policy is aimed at attracting a large number of post-graduate research students who want to earn high-standard degrees in different top disciplines including science, engineering, medical and information technology.

This initiative has been taken by Australia’s immigration minister, Mr Bowen, against the recommendations of a study report based on a review of student visa system during 2011. The study suggested tightening the visa assessment levels so that only high-profile students can enter Australia. But Bowen is keen to open the doors of the Australian educational institutes for every category and class of international students.

The new policy is likely to attract a large number of foreign students from the countries like Bhutan, China, Ecuador, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Tanzania, Bulgaria, South Korea, Indonesia, Mexico and Venezuela.

In the market of international higher education, Australia holds a great name and fame. A number of Australian universities and colleges provide quality education to the foreign students in low expenses. The degrees of these institutes are considered as prestigious in every part of the world.

Plenty of international students are enrolled in Australia ever year. A big part of them get decent work opportunities in the host country after completing their studies while the others return and contribute to the economic and social developments of their homelands.

It is hoped that the relaxation of AL1 visa will give a new boost to Australia’s ace educational sector.
