Canada Legislating to Refund Applications Submitted Before February 27, 2008

Did you apply for Canada Immigration as Skilled worker prior to February 27, 2008 and your application has not been reviewed for eligibility yet, then expect a refund and returned application.

Canada has plan to returned all the applications submitted prior to February 27, 2008 and refund the fees.Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney announced on March 29, 2012, “The Federal Skilled Worker Program backlog is a major roadblock to Canada’s ability to respond to rapidly changing labour market needs.”

“Having to process applications that are as many as eight years out of date reduces our ability to focus on new applicants with skills and talents that our economy needs today,” he further added.

This is expected to affect around 280,000 applicants, including their dependents. Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) will begin the process of returning the full amount of fees paid to the Department by these affected FSW applicants.

However, CIC will continue processing their applications until they are approved for entry into Canada or not for those approximately 20,000 people who have passed the selection criteria stage.

Is is justified that after keeping applicants waiting for so many years, all of sudden Canadian government tells them sorry we are not even going to look into your application any more?

No, it is not and Canada must expect to see a good number of applicants going to court for remedial action.
