The Canadian Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister, Jason Kenney, has assured that Canada will be performing better on the front of attracting foreign investors and entrepreneurs to Canada.
Minister Kenney also outlined his vision to a faster and effective Canadian immigration process that will meet the economic requirements of the country while address the National Metropolis Conference.
He said, “It makes no sense to tell people ‘apply now, but put your life on hold for a few years before we’ll even let you know if you qualify.”
“I will continue to make changes to create a faster, more flexible immigration system. Canadians need and deserve a system that boldly puts Canada’s best interests first,” he further added.
The Minister noted that immigration plays an important role in Canadian economy and there is a need to bring in those people quickly who have the skills that are in demand. Currently in some categories the backlog is several years long. He said, “We have made some great strides towards an immigration system that is fast and flexible, but know that there is more work to do.”
The Minister also hinted about the possible changes in the current point system to make it more flexible and intelligent.
Language is one of the key factor that can affect the successfully integration of the new migrant in the Canadian society. However, the requirement for a Doctor should be different than for a Welder as the level of the language skills to perform their jobs and integrate into the society are different.
The selection factors must also place greater emphasis on professionals who are young and have high quality credentials.
The Canadian immigration for professional is based on six selection factors including age, language skills, education, professional experience, adaptability and arranged employment opinion.
The applicant must score 67 points on the six selection factors and must either has a profession that is eligible for immigration or have a job offer from an Canadian employer.
