New post-study visa for foreign students in UK

UK immigration authorities have introduced a new post-study visa for the foreign students who manage to develop some innovative ideas about entrepreneurship, in a bid to put a full stop before the criticism caused by suspension of Tier 1 visa.

In order to qualify for this brand of visa, a student will have to conceive a viable and progressive business plan under the supervision of his/her university professors. If the idea is approved, that student will be allowed to stay in UK for an initial period of one year after completing his/her degree.

This visa package will enable the overseas students to seek work opportunities or develop their own business ventures on the English soil once their studies are over.

Remember, the British government terminated Tier 1 visa last month, depriving the foreign students to stay and work in the host country. This was a huge setback for a large number of students who had come to their dream land for the sake of both learning and earning.

The scrapping of Tier 1 visa was followed by protests and severe criticism which forced the administrators to come up with a new deal.

However, some international immigration experts suggest that the only a few students will be able to qualify for the new visa which puts some severe conditions.

The visa will be available with effect from April 2013. The foreign students currently studding in the British universities and colleges are supposed to work hard on producing new entrepreneurial ideas so that they can be eligible to extend they stay after getting degrees.

Initially issued for a year, the new visa will be extendable to maximum period of two years provided the concerned educational institute of a visa holder sponsors him/her. By and large, this is good news for the international students enrolled in UK.
