It is rightly said that “Learning is what most adults will do for a living in the 21st century” maintains Perelman. Today the world has become a global village where boundaries are crossed with the help of papers called visas. One who wants to study should get a visa and go through an immigration process. Students who wish to study abroad have to qualify this phase. Under the security threats and economic crisis countries like UK, USA is revamping their immigration process. This process main aim is to stop bogus students and let the deserving students study under the high education system.
Immigration Minister Damian Green has stepped in to check the ability of students through interview system and he announced that a new interview system will be introduced this summer. After which a student will be granted visa or have to face a refusal depending upon a number of questions asked to him.
Education is not the answer to the question. Education is the means to the answer to all questions.” maintains William Allin. Now under the new immigration policy of Damian Green it would be decided in an interview with applicant whether he is able to have education abroad or not. The questions could be related to their previous academic record or about immigration or they can be the basic questions to be answered in English in order to study at Britain. Mr. Damian Green said that they are expecting more than 14000 students in the next 12 months whom application will be considered after a detailed interview.
Immigration Minister Damian Green said,” With more interviews and greater powers to refuse bogus students we will weed out abuse and protect the UK from those looking to play the system. Under the current system UK Border Agency officers are unable to refuse some applications even if they have serious concerns over the credibility of the student. We are toughening up the system to ensure genuine students benefit from our country’s excellent education sector.” He further stated, “Britain is open for business to the brightest and the best migrants but the message is clear – if you lie on your application form or try to hide your true motivation for coming to the UK then you will be found out and refused a visa.”
His statement was based on an interviewing pilot carried out by the agency last year to check the legitimacy of some applicants. In that pilot more than 2300 students were interviewed .this proved the effectiveness of the face-to-face interviews in the presence of previous application process which did allow false students in the past. Under it almost one-fifth of the applicants were refused. The major reason that came upfront was inability of interviewees to answer the basic questions in English without the help of interpreter whereas it was compulsory to qualify written on their applications. So these students were unable to meet the standards of further education in the UK.
Now under the new immigration policy genuine students will be encouraged and the system will be more transparent. But with the strict mechanism students have to face hard trial.Uk should encourage students through new visa policy rather discouraging.
