Immigration Control within India for Pakistani Diplomats to Watch Cricket

india pakistan cricketIndian has refused to issue travel permits to officials of Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi. Pakistani officials wanted to travel to Kolkata to watch cricket match between Pakistani and Indian cricket team on March 19, 2016. It is reported that the travel permission was denied due to officials’ alleged links with ISI and Pakistani defense establishment. Pakistan is lodging a formal protest with Indian High Commissioner in Islamabad, Pakistan.

Pakistani cricket team is in India to participate in ICC World T20 world cup matches. Pakistani officials form High Commission wanted to go to Kolkata to support their cricket team.  The match between the two rival teams of Pakistan and India is scheduled on March 19, 2016.

India refused to grant travel permission alleging they have ties with Pakistan spy agency ISI and other defense organization. They are considered to be potential security risk.

There are two immigration controls in place in India for Pakistani nationals including the diplomats who are employed at Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, India.  First is the permission to enter India and then permission to travel to any city other than Indian Capital.

Pakistan will be record protest in reaction to the refusal decision by Indian government.

The venue of the cricket match between Pakistan and India was changed due to threats from extremists who said that they will not allow Pakistan cricket team to play in India.
