Israel is the latest addition to the list of the countries that qualify for non-immigrant E-2 investor visas in the United States of America as a result of the approval of Senator Howard Berman sponsored legislation. The bill was approved by the House Judiciary Committee
E-2 is a non-immigrant visa for foreign investors who want to stay and work in United States to manage and look after their investments. The legislation will grant the nationals of Israel to acquire the E-2 visa in USA.
The senator Howard Berman who is also the senior Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee told the Judiciary Committee that we should be doing everything we can to bring additional Israeli innovations and technologies to the United States.”
“Israel is a global leader in security and defence technologies, medicine, agriculture, high-tech, and clean energy advancements. Our nation will benefit from bringing their business to our shores,” Berman further added.
Judiciary Committee Chairman, Lamar Smith praised Berman for his efforts and said that investments resulting from granting Israeli investors E-2 visas will generate more jobs and reinforce the friendship between the two countries.
There are seventy nice nations on the list of the countries whose nationals can apply for E-2 visa status in the United States of America.
The E-2 non-immigrant visa allows a national of a country with which the United States maintains a treaty of commerce and navigation to be allowed to stay and work in the United States when investing a substantial amount of capital in a U.S. business. Certain employees of such a person or of a qualifying organization may also be eligible for this type of visa.
Qualified E-2 investors and employees are allowed a maximum initial stay of two years. The extension of stay can be allowed in increments of up to two years each.
